unusually for a record (for me,at least), constants collects tracks written in four very different moments in time: some are recent - so recent ive only had the opportunity to play them out just a handful of times - while others are over one year old. i really wish the story behind this ep would be a bit more interesting so this text could completely blow your mind but im afraid there were no dragons, no sex, no drugs and definitely no rock n roll involved. all four were mostly produced by me while sipping coffee and wearing boxer shorts in front of a computer. i could somehow try to describe the music on here but it would probably take less for you to give it a listen. however, if you happen to be one of the humans that prefer reading about music. anyway, im really happy to see these finally out, especially on a label i have always looked up to like vakant. i really used to think smoke, kaden and ozer were aliens at some hopefully you will enjoy this music as much as i loved writing and playing it out.

detroits monty luke delivers full flavor musics seventeenth release, the bomb on bomb ep. other than being carl craigs right-hand man at planet e communications, monty luke has been building quite the reputation lately with solid releases on labels like planet e, mothership, and his own black catalogue imprint. the bomb on bomb ep consists of three originals that cross the boundaries from acid house to funky techno to four-on-the-floor downtempo. >in love with a dancer< is the eps total driver, with meaty synth stabs, teasing builds, and cleverly processed vocal treatments that scatter though the mix. >bomb on bomb< is a sly combination of classic-sounding acid house keys, pulsating rhythms, and a soulful vocal going on about a sexy lady. >13th city stranger< is a sleek, downtempo house track and one of the first things monty recorded after moving to detroit from san francisco. solid stuff all around from monty luke and full flavor music.

following up after the mental drop by detroits master of repetition, population one, we have a new signing hailing from the land of the rising sun, helping us to set the standards for this new imprint— uncompromised techno funk! japanese producer imugem orihasam has spent the past 3 years slowly evolving. his early work on ilian tape and esperanza sounds like that of an already seasoned craftsman digesting detroit bit by bit, with a focus on lush textures and swooning eerie melodies. this past year has seen a spike in activity for imugem, with releases on patrice scotts sistrum recordings, berlins nsyde, and adam marshalls new kanada—all showcasing a more focused and exuberant approach that has sharpened his reflective compositions. with gem, imugem steps away from the supple melodies and tranquil atmospheres for a trip deep into the power plant.
